BFF!

Well, today I went over to my new friend L's house for coffee and a chat.  We met through my daughter and her granddaughter attending primary school together and becoming friends.  This is the first friendship I have attempted since moving to NSW 17 months ago and the first time I have been to her house.  It was great.  It was nice to talk to someone face-to-face about different things besides who needs to go where and what we need at the shop.

Spending time with L today was fun, and made me think of my one true BFF.

B!  B is my soul sister.  It's almost like we are twins and were separated at birth, only to find each other again when we finally met in 1992.  We know what each other is thinking, we can finish each others sentences.  We can talk everyday for a month, not speak for two months, and then pick up again as though we've never missed a beat.

She is an absolutely amazing friend.  She has ALWAYS been there for me, even at my darkest hours, and continues to lift me up despite where she is at with her own journey in life.

After spending time with L this morning, and thinking about how much I missed B, I phoned her.  And spent the next hour laughing and crying and missing her and loving her more than ever.  B's dad passed away recently, and I just wish that we lived closer than the 6 hour drive, so that I could physically support her through her grief.  I would do anything I could to erase the pain I know that she is experiencing.

B has married a pretty awesome guy, J.  They are so in love and it is really beautiful to see.  He has been a tremendous support to her during her Dad's illness and later after his passing.  I think they are both pretty darn lucky to have each other!

B is a wonderful mother to three amazingly gorgeous and delightful children; P-18, A-13 and H-17mths.  She is expecting again and is due in December with number 4.  I cannot wait to meet her latest beautiful creation!

My BFF!!!!!!
B is the most beautiful person I know, both inside and out.  Not a moment goes by without thinking of you my darling girl, my BFF, my soul sister.  I love you and thank you for being a truly amazing person and BFF!

I am thankful to have you in my life B! xxx

A Pain In The ..................

S (aged 9.5) has been complaining quite a bit over the last couple of weeks of back pain.  It appears that he has probably had a bit of a growth spurt recently which has resulted in his scholiosis getting considerably worse.  So after a couple of calls to the Kids Hospital, we are uping his dosage of valium at night, starting to give him some during the day if needed, and to give him Pain Stop Nighttime round-the-clock and Neurofen.  We are off for an appointment with the Cerebral Palsy Team at the hospital on Monday, who will refer us to the Scholosis Specialist asap.

S caught this perch in the creek on our property.  He was so proud!  This was about 2 weeks ago and you can just start to see him leaning to the left from the scholiosis

His OT visited today, and I discussed with her ways to try to alleviate his discomfort.  He has outgrown his wheelchair and it is not giving him the postural support he needs, which in turn makes the scholiosis more painful, so she suggested keeping him out of his chair as much as possible until we are seen on Monday and hopefully the hospital physio team will have a loaner chair for us until his new one gets funding from the Gov (which is apparently going to be another six months!)

S doing what S does best and loves doing the most - using tools!

S is really such an amazing kid.  He has taught me so many lessons about life, love and laughing.  He rarely complains and is almost always smiling.  He really is an inspiring young man and I feel blessed to be able to share his life.

Welcome On Our Journey!

Well, I've finally done it and started a blog!  I've been talking and procrastinating and talking and procrastinating about starting one for what seems like forever.  And I've finally done it!  I (along with hubby) am in the initial stages of our application to become foster parents, and thought that now would be a good time to start blogging so as to share our rollercoaster journey into what seems like the abyss!  So climb on board, hang on tight and join us on our journey!

Thought I would add my first ever picture to my blog for your viewing pleasure.  It is of the waterfall that runs into our creek which is at the bottom of our 100 acre property!  So, so beautiful and serene!  I love where I live!
